Documents of the cause
They come from the dossier of the cause for beatification. Each file reproduces the original document and adds a transcription. All are in Spanish. Those with an APRM reference are kept in the Archive of the Redemptorist Province of Madrid (Archivo de la Provincia Redentorista de Madrid), Martyrs section.

The testimonies about his arrest and his days in the checa — Lola Moreno’s account, the statement of Jenaro Xavier Vallejos and that of Antonio Gómez Fernández — are quoted through the handwritten notes of Fr Lucas Pérez on the persecution suffered by the Servant of God (APRM, Mártires, 1209102), as reproduced in the profiles published by Hispania Martyr and Testigos de la Redención.
Those notes have not yet been digitised on this site.

How the texts are quoted
All the documents are in Spanish. The quotations on this site are our own translations of the transcriptions, kept as close to the original wording as English allows. Page numbers refer to the numbering of each transcription. The Spanish version of this site quotes the original text.

His second surname is spelt in two ways. The Civil Registry wrote Bibiano; the parish, Viviano. His mother was Brígida Bibiano García. Jiménez and Giménez also alternate. The cause and the beatification use the form Jiménez Bibiano, although some news reports in 2022 wrote Viviano.

Prayer
To ask God, through the intercession of Blessed Donato, for the grace to live one’s own vocation with the same self-giving.
Father, as you called Donato Jiménez to place all his gifts at the service of your Gospel and made him a missionary of your love, I ask you to make use in the same way of my gifts and my failings, so that all of them may help to proclaim your Word. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Blessed Donato Jiménez, martyr of Christ, pray for us.
His liturgical memorial is on 6 November. The anniversary of his death is 18 September.
The prayer was circulated in Spanish while he was still a Servant of God, in the profile published by Testigos de la Redención. This English version is our own translation.
If you have received a grace
For canonisation, the Church examines the favours that the faithful attribute to the intercession of the Blesseds. If you have received one through Blessed Donato, please report it to the vice-postulation of the cause:
